Dr. Ryan C. N. D’Arcy
President and Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Ryan C.N. D’Arcy is the co-founder and senior scientist/entrepreneur for Health Tech Connex Inc. Trained in neuroscience and medical imaging, Dr. D’Arcy holds a BC Leadership Chair in Medical Technology and is full Professor at Simon Fraser University.
He also serves as Head of Health Sciences and Innovation at Fraser Health’s Surrey Memorial Hospital and is widely recognized for founding Innovation Boulevard. Dr. D’Arcy received a B.Sc. (with distinction) from University of Victoria along with both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in neuroscience from Dalhousie University.
He did post-doctoral training in medical imaging at the National Research Council’s Institute for Biodiagnostics, and spent over a decade leading the development of Atlantic Canada’s biomedical imaging cluster. He has extensive experience in translational neuro-imaging, has been the driving force in taking several biotechnology products to market.
Chief Executive Officer
Kirk Fisher is the co-founder and chief executive officer for HealthTech Connex Inc. As one of the founding developers of Innovation Boulevard, Kirk is Senior Vice President of The Lark Group.
The Lark Group specializes in healthcare innovation through the development of advanced care infrastructure, such as hospitals, clinics, and care homes. With a background in engineering (P.Eng., UBC) and business (MBA, SFU), Kirk has extensive experience in corporate management, project planning, business operations, investment and strategic business growth. Kirk is versed in medical technologies, independent living technologies, and digital health technologies and works closely with many of the clinical, university, and business sector partners of HealthTech Connex.
Kirk is currently co-leading the development of the Health and Technology District adjacent to Surrey Memorial Hospital, in which HealthTech Connex is a key founding business.
Rudi van den Broek
Chief Operating Officer
Rudi has three decades of experience that includes finance, healthcare, innovation and infrastructure delivery.
Rudi also has extensive experience in corporate management, project planning, business operations, and infrastructure and strategic planning. Rudi has a deep understanding of the healthcare system, clinical models, change management, lean process improvement and agile product development and was formerly on the executive of a major healthcare provider. Rudi also has had significant roles with management consulting firms including Accenture.
Rudi is experienced with information technology and management, medical technology, finance, markets and technology applications. He manages the company’s rapid product commercialization successes. Rudi works closely to link product and service development with users of HealthTech Connex’s products.
Chief Financial Advisor
Simon Buckett brings with him nearly 20 years of finance and project management experience working for private and publicly listed companies in the UK, US, and Canada. Simon began his career with KPMG in London and later moved to Vancouver as Senior Auditor, eventually joining Ernst & Young as an Audit Department Manager. Subsequently he was the VP Finance for Vancouver based tech start-up, Wurldtech Security Technologies, growing the company into a multi-million dollar market leader in cyber security technologies. Immediately prior to joining the Lark Group, Simon worked as the CFO for a real estate investment company acquiring a $100m US income producing platform.
In addition, Simon is also a licensed paramedic in British Columbia, and a Medic for the North Shore Search and Rescue team.
Dr. Jan Venter
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Jan Venter is a Family and Functional Medicine Practitioner who practices in Vancouver and Surrey, BC, Canada. He obtained a Medical Degree and a Master’s Degree in Family Medicine at The University of The Free State in South Africa. He is also Board-certified in Family Medicine in Canada.
As one of the first candidates to graduate at The Institute for Functional Medicine’s Certification Program (IFMCP), Dr. Venter, is uniquely trained in the Functional and Lifestyle Medicine model to identify and treat the root cause of chronic disease. He believes that Personalized Medicine is the future of Medicine and that patient-centered care is key. He practices Functional Neurology and uses Neurofeedback and Neuromodulation to enhance Neuroplasticity and healing in patients with brain health conditions.
He is the founder of Fusium Medical and Brain Vault Health Systems. He is an alumni of Exponential Medicine and Singularity University with a keen interest in biohacking and exponential technologies like Regenerative Medicine and Stemcells, Neurotechnology, Flow States, Nanotechnology, AI, Deep Learning, Sensors, Networks, Robotics, 3D printing, Telemedicine and Advanced Diagnostics.
VP Healthcare & Innovations
Rowena Rizzotti has been a highly successful healthcare leader with more than 30 years experience, in senior and executive-level leadership roles in multi-site, complex health and business environments.
Rowena holds two Masters Degrees in Management and Business Administration (MBA) and also holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Biochemistry from UBC. She is clinically trained as both a nurse and a paramedic.
Rowena served as VP Operations for BC largest private senior care operator and also served as a Chief Operating Officer for BC’s Northern Health Authority among many other healthcare leadership roles. Rowena earned wide acclaim for senior leadership of Fraser Heath’s Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) and for overseeing the over $500M SMH campus redevelopment, which included SMH’s Critical Care tower expansion and developing the Health Sciences and Innovation initiative.
Larry Fisher is the President and Owner of the Lark Group of Companies. This includes some 20 active companies. The principle companies were founded in 1972 to specialize in Development, Construction and Property Management. The construction includes project management, construction management, design build and general construction. The Company has focused on industrial and commercial projects for many years, but for the last 15 years has developed a niche in health care. The development and construction consists of over 3,000 complex care and assisted living beds as a developer, investor and design build contractor. Most have been secured through the RFP process offered by the FHA (Fraser Health Authority) and VIHA (Vancouver Island Health Authority)
Larry Fisher has a B.Sc. degree from the University of Alberta and is a Professional Engineer. Through hands-on management and many financial and management courses, Larry has engineered the company to the prominent position it has in the business community today.
Larry, with the assistance of his son Kirk, and their very experienced Team, joined Innisfree from the UK and Acciona from Spain in the successful completion of the Royal Jubilee Hospital a 500 bed patient care complex as a PPP Project. The Lark Group was one of the Sponsors and part of the Design Build Team with Acciona.
